Active vs Passive Voice in English

Active voice: subject does the action. Passive voice: subject receives the action.

المبني للمعلوم: الفاعل يقوم بالفعل. المبني للمجهول: الفاعل يتلقى الفعل.

Active Voice

Subject + verb + object.

الفاعل + الفعل + المفعول به.

Passive Voice

Object + be + past participle.

المفعول + be + التصريف الثالث.

Examples

  • Active: The teacher explains the lesson.
  • المعلوم: المعلم يشرح الدرس.
  • Passive: The lesson is explained by the teacher.
  • المجهول: الدرس يُشرح بواسطة المعلم.
